Eight years of a Slack channel's joke titles, who got caught with them and for how long.
The topic of one Slack channel has been used since 2018 as a running board of joke titles and the people currently holding them. Every “set the channel topic” message is a snapshot of that board.
A small Python pipeline walks the channel’s history, parses each snapshot and turns almost a thousand of them into a chronological log of title changes: who acquired a title, who defended it, who lost it to whom, and how long each sentence lasted. An editor merges the many spellings of the same person or title.
The dashboard reads that log and shows the current board, activity over the years, a timeline per title, leaderboards, the longest sentences, repeat offenders, who passed what to whom, and assorted records. Filter by year, person or title.
The data names real colleagues, so the page is kept out of search engines.
